Why Proper Bra Sizing Matters
Wearing the correct bra size is essential for comfort, support, and overall breast health. Studies show that up to 80% of women wear the wrong bra size, which can lead to discomfort, poor posture, and even long-term health issues.
A well-fitting bra provides proper support, enhances your silhouette, and can even improve how clothing fits. Our bra size calculator uses industry-standard measurement techniques to help you find your perfect fit.
How to Measure Yourself Correctly
For accurate measurements, follow these steps:
Step-by-Step Measurement Guide
Underbust Measurement
Measure snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust. The tape should be firm but not tight. This measurement determines your band size.
Bust Measurement
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, making sure the tape is parallel to the floor. Don't pull the tape too tight - it should be comfortable.
Understanding Bra Sizing Systems
US/UK Sizing
In the US and UK systems, bra sizes consist of a band size (number) and cup size (letter). The band size is typically your underbust measurement rounded to the nearest even number, and the cup size is determined by the difference between your bust and underbust measurements.
EU Sizing
European sizing uses centimeters for band measurement and typically has different cup progression than US/UK sizing. EU band sizes are usually 10-15 cm smaller than the actual underbust measurement.
Australian Sizing
Australian sizing is similar to UK sizing but may have slight variations in cup progression, particularly for larger cup sizes.
Common Bra Fitting Problems
Band Riding Up
If the band rides up your back, it's too loose. Try a smaller band size.
Spillage at Top or Sides
If breast tissue spills out of the cups, you need a larger cup size.
Gaps in Cups
If there are gaps in the cups, try a smaller cup size or different bra style.
Straps Digging In
If straps dig into your shoulders, the band may not be providing enough support. Try a smaller band size.
Center Gore Not Lying Flat
If the center gore doesn't lie flat against your chest, you may need a larger cup size or different style.
