What is Ideal Weight?
Ideal weight is a range that represents a healthy body weight for your height, gender, and body frame. Unlike BMI which provides a single number, ideal weight calculations offer a target range that accounts for individual differences in body composition.
Knowing your ideal weight range can help you set realistic health goals and maintain a weight that reduces your risk of weight-related health problems.
How is Ideal Weight Calculated?
Our calculator uses multiple established formulas to provide a comprehensive ideal weight range. Each method has its own approach:

Men: 112.2 lbs for first 5 ft + 5.1 lbs per additional inch

Our calculator adjusts these formulas based on your body frame size to provide more personalized results.
Understanding Body Frame Size
Small Frame
People with small frames typically have narrower shoulders, hips, and wrists. Their ideal weight will be at the lower end of the calculated range.
Medium Frame
This is the average frame size. Most people fall into this category, and their ideal weight will be in the middle of the calculated range.
Large Frame
People with large frames typically have broader shoulders, hips, and larger bone structure. Their ideal weight will be at the higher end of the calculated range.
